Tatjana Petschnikova - Prima Donna of the New Opera in Moscow

Tatjana Petschnikova is the leading soloist at the New Opera in Moscow. Her starring role is Norma from the Bellini opera of the same name. For this part she was awarded the Russian music award Casta Diva in 2006 and the Golden Mask, one of the most sought after honours in the music business, in 2007.

In 2006 she won the first prize in Helsinki at the international forum Musical Art and Education. Petschnikova also owns the honorary title Verdiente Künstlerin Russlands. Her repertoire includes roles from Russian, as well as West-European operas (including Tatjana from Eugen Onegin by Tschaikovsky, Ludmila from Ruslan and Ludmila by Glinka, Martha from The Tsar's Bride by Rimsky-Korsakov, Pamina from The Magic Flute by Mozart, Violetta from La Traviata by Verdi, Nedda from Pagliacci of Leoncavallo and Adina from Elixir of Love by Donizetti.)

After finishing her classical piano studies, Tatjana Petschnikova began her vocal studies at the Russian music academy Gnessin. Thanks to her blossoming talent, she graduated with huge success and was employed at the New Opera Theatre in Moscow the following year. The beautiful diva is characterized by her strong nature, disciplined and concentrated work, as well as her ambition and engaging character.

The renowned singer gave some guest performances at the opera hall in Stuttgart last year and inspired the audience with her performance at the Halevy opera, La Juive – a production by well-known German directors Jossi Willer and Sergio Morabito. This modern opera takes five and a half hours which makes it a challenge for both artists and audience.

Tatjana Petschnikova passed this challenge with flying colours. The fifteen performances of La Juive and ten of Norma were a huge success. In 2011 she will again be a guest performer at the opera hall in Stuttgart. Tatjana Petschnikova took part at this year’s Russian Ball for the first time. She sang the Casta Diva as a midnight act and inspired the audience at the Vienna Imperial Palace with her beautiful voice. During the fifth Russian Ball, the charismatic singer will showcase a further facet of her talents.
